Collaboration

In every writing class, I attended we had to collaborate with each other. Collaboration is where a group of people coming together to complete an assignment. Since the beginning of this class, we did everything within small groups of two-to-three people. I was a bit shy to talk to people who I had no interaction beforehand because they were all from different parts of California. As we moved forward, we all started to talk to one another and get to know each other. I enjoyed talking to my fellow group members because it gave me views on how their life is very different in different parts of California. It also tells me how they have different slang words than I. Usually, I tend to try to break the ice so it won’t be very awkward. As time went by we all started to share and compare our ideas in our discussions. In class, we always had to answer some questions. To answer these questions we were put into discussion groups. In these groups, we would answer questions about our assigned homework or in-class readings.
One of our in classwork was to read and answer questions about an article, “Marc Benioff: We Need a New Capitalism.” We had to answer questions in our discussion group which were about what was his argument, who’s his audience, and whether or not we agree with his way of persuasion. In our group, we would discuss each question to see what will make the most sense. Then we would type it up in our shared google document. Our shared Google document benefited us a lot because sometimes what we wrote didn’t make sense to someone in the group would point it out. Which is when we go back and rephrase the answer. After we answered all the questions we would be asked by our Writing 001 teacher what our answer was.
This was a great way to interact with different students in our class. It gave us the ability to look over each other’s answers and be able to ask why you came upon this answer which allowed us to get the exact meaning of why they said it. Doing this in our Writing 001 class, helped me forcefully answer questions in complete sentences to be able to make sense to others. It also made me explain why I put that as my answer.
